Folies Félines stands for “Feline Folies”, reminding us of the quirky ways we find cats so adorable, but also of the things that baffle us about them. Folies Félines offers cat behavior consulting services to anyone who has one or many cats under their care. While the term “behaviorist” tends to be reserved for professionals either with a veterinary specialty in behavior or holding a Masters of PhD in the field of Applied Animal Behavior, Cat behavior professionals can also gain knowledge, experience and training through other avenues (International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants foundation, Pet Professional Guild, international Cat care, Fear Free for Pets, Petpro, Behavior Works, Low Stress Hanlding University, Shelter Behavior Hub and American College of Veterinary Behaviorists to name just a few). Today, the rise of online education has democratized specialized fields that were once restricted only to those who were fortunate enough to be able to pursue studies in a limited number of available establishments. Gaining experience through volunteering and fostering cats with behavior issues is also an invaluable learning growth opportunity not necessarily available through more “formal” education channels.

While cat behavior consultants cannot prescribe medication and are not trained in veterinary medicine, they can help to solve most cat behavior issues people encounter, including, but not limited to: aggression towards other cats or towards dogs, aggression towards humans, fearful behavior, litter box issues and problems related to destruction of items. Cat behavior professionals are not only expertly trained in modifying behavior, but also in HOW to train animals, including cats, by making it worth their while to participate in training, creating a positive, engaging and fun activity for both the cats and their humans! This also means that caring for your cat does not have to be scary, because, believe it or not, cats can be trained to participate in their care cooperatively. Whether you call us a cat coach, a cat expert, a cat therapist, a cat behavior expert, a cat tamer or a cat consultant, we are there to untangled the knots that have formed in your relationship, helping your cat thrive under your care and increasing your happiness to have the privilege of sharing your loving home with them.

***ANY SUDDEN BEHAVIOR CHANGE IN YOUR CAT CAN BE INDICATIVE OF A POTENTIALLY FATAL HEALTH PROBLEM IF NOT ADDRESSED QUICKLY. CALL YOUR VETERINARIAN NOW TO KNOW IF YOU NEED TO VISIT THEM RIGHT AWAY.***
Behavior professionals are NOT veterinarians. Health aspects need to be checked by a veterinarian.
